VMA Resources (On Campus)

Kristina Spaeth is our Veteran Academic Advisor and she is located in our office at CASE W322.  In-person appointments are available Mondays and select Fridays.  Kristina is available for remote advising on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please check Buff Portal Advising for most up-to-date hours.

The purpose of the 西瓜视频 Student Veterans Association is to increase awareness and understanding of Student Veterans issues on campus, in the local community, and nationally. Additionally, the CU Boulder SVA seeks to promote the success of University of Colorado Student Veterans through service, leadership, and scholarship. The organization intends to assist veterans in making successful transitions from military to college life by creating a social and professional support network, educating veterans on the benefits they are entitled, and providing a welcoming atmosphere at CU Boulder.

Our office in CASE W322 has a lounge available for students. This space is intended for use by currently enrolled veteran and veteran dependent students only. We have computers, lounge chairs and desk space for students to use. Please feel free to utilize this space if you need somewhere to spend some time on campus.  

CU Boulder Resources (On Campus)

Matt Tomatz from Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) works closely with our office. 

 offers confidential mental health services and psychiatric care to student veterans. To initiate services, please visit the CAPS website to schedule an appointment.

Services provided:

  • Individual and couples counseling
  • Psychiatric medical evaluation and medication management
  • Educational workshops for academic support, stress management and more
  • Therapy groups
  • Crisis care and after hours support

 Services Provided

Readjustment counseling is a wide range of psycho social services offered to eligible veterans and their families in the effort to make a successful transition from military to civilian life.  They include:

  • Individual and group counseling for veterans and their families
  • Family counseling for military related issues
  • Bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death
  • Military sexual trauma counseling and referral
  • Outreach and education including PDHRA, community events, etc.
  • Substance abuse assessment and referral
  • Employment assessment and referral
  • VBA benefits explanation and referral
  • Screening & referral for medical issues including TBI, depression, etc.

Does VA have readjustment counseling for family members?

Family members of combat veterans have been eligible for Vet Center readjustment counseling services for military related issues since 1979.

Am I eligible for Vet Center readjustment counseling?

If you, or a family member, served in any combat zone and received a military campaign ribbon (Vietnam, Southwest Asia, OEF, OIF, etc.) then your family is eligible for Vet Center services.

The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) provides specialty care for military Veterans and retired athletes struggling with mild to moderate traumatic brain injuries (including concussion) and changes in psychological health. Patients at the MIBH are treated as a person first.  They welcome Veterans of any discharge status. 

Their intensive, outpatient program combines the best tools in traditional rehabilitation with complementary medicines so you can heal. At the MIBH, they are here to help because there may be nothing 鈥渕ild鈥 about mild to moderate TBI.

The  provides confidential, compassionate and personalized mental health care to Post-9/11 Veterans and their family members.

Evidenced-based treatments and services are provided by culturally-competent professionals trained to work with veterans and military families. In addition to individual adult therapy, our services include family therapy, child therapy and couples counseling.

While the clinic is located in Greenwood Village, care is available almost anywhere in Colorado through our telehealth platform.
